Ukrainian telco trying to keep networks online

Ukrainian telco Kyivstar told Capacity earlier this week that it is working to keep networks online between attacks from Russian forces, but that power outages are preventing 10-13% of its sites from operating.

Capacity reported that Kyivstar has suffered much of its infrastructure being destroyed and is using diesel to overcome power shortages where it can. Fiber optics have been damaged, many of its base stations have been ruined and its Mariupol office was completely destroyed by bombing on March 19.

Almost 20 cities have been cut off from accessing mobile services from the telco, as they are either in occupied territories or areas undergoing shelling preventing rapid repair.
